Advanced Transport Protocols by Ernesto Exposito(auth.)

By Ernesto Exposito(auth.)

The present range of shipping providers, in addition to the complexity due to the deployment of particular shipping protocols or mechanisms over different prone supplied by way of heterogeneous networks, call for a unique layout of the delivery layer. in addition, present and destiny purposes will purely be capable to reap the benefits of the main tailored and on hand shipping providers in the event that they may be able to have interaction (i.e. observe, compose, install and adapt) successfully with this complicated delivery layer.
The paintings awarded during this ebook proposes a model-driven technique and a service-oriented procedure aimed toward designing the mechanisms, features, protocols and companies of the following iteration delivery layer.
The first a part of this booklet provides the state-of-the-art of shipping protocols and introduces a model-driven method and an ontology semantic version implementation aimed toward designing subsequent iteration shipping protocols.
The moment half offers the UML-based layout of a component-based delivery protocol. An extension to this protocol in line with service-component and service-oriented architectures can also be presented.
The 3rd half provides a number of model-driven adaptive recommendations geared toward handling the behavioral and structural version of subsequent new release autonomic delivery protocols.
The fourth and ultimate half offers the layout of a delivery layer in accordance with component-oriented and service-oriented ways and integrating the autonomic computing paradigm guided through the semantic measurement supplied by means of ontologies.

A methodology based on UML models will be introduced in order to describe the black box semantic during the analysis phase and the white box semantic during the design phase of standard and advanced transport mechanisms and functions. Likewise, the use of the QoS transport ontology in order to design a service-oriented and component-based architecture for the next generation transport layer will also be developed in following chapters. 1. Introduction In this chapter, an approach intended to follow model-driven approach to analyze and design traditional and advanced transport functions and mechanisms will be presented.

Within these functions, several mechanisms aimed at being deployed at the sending and/or 20 Advanced Transport Protocols receiving side and based on control structures such as windows, estimation equations or network-based probes have been presented. Most of these mechanisms have mainly focused on the network constraints and sometimes can fail in satisfying the requirements of applications such as timeconstraint or partial reliable and partial order-tolerant applications. However, these mechanisms could be enhanced in order to be more compliant with the QoS requirements of this kind of applications.

These enhancements and new developments mainly propose more adapted error and congestion control for wireless networks as well as new strategies for multihoming and mobility support. More recently, a new transport protocol named MPTCP has been proposed by the IETF in order to enhance TCP and to take advantage of the multihoming multipath capabilities of end systems. 1. TCP TCP is the most widely used transport protocol. TCP offers a unicast, reliable and in sequence end-to-end data transfer service between two interconnected systems [POS 81].
